Our Story
"Simple designs are always the best"
Our story began in 2016, I was a field maintenance engineer, working out of my van trying to keep organised from one day to the next. Using power tools everyday, my kit, which had grown over the years, included a Milwaukee M18 1/2" drive impact wrench, 1/4" drive impact wrench, recip saw, 5" grinder, combi drill, multi tool and die grinder amongst other tools. I was also lucky enough to have an M12 heated jacket to keep me warn on them cold winter mornings. All these tools meant that I had amassed a collection of 8+ M18 lithium and 3 M12 batteries to keep my tools powered through the day.
The main issue I had from one day to the next was organisation! There is nothing worse than searching through your tool vault and finding dead battery after dead battery then finally finding one that works but its not as full as you would like it.
The Birth of Power Rack. A simple but effective solution to Battery Storage!
I decided to keep my batteries organised and separate them from my power tools. This way I can keep full control of which ones are charged and which not! Simple solution really!
Great I thought, so I designed and 3d printed myself some battery holders, this would solve my problems I thought.
Not as easy as I thought!
The battery mounts I made were "clip in" and seemed like a great idea. "More secure" "clip upside down" and with a "belt clip" in reality when I started to use them, the last thing I got from my van was the batteries. This meant that I had to unclip them with my hands already full of tools and often freezing cold and unable to squeeze the release clips. The long and short of the story was.
"The release clips were an unnecessary pain in the ar*e"
Slide mounts are the way forward.
So I got on CAD and decided to go back to basics. After all, in the famous words of Albert Einstien “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.” I designed some clips which slide on and off easily and with a simple push I had them on and off the battery mounts. Saving me time and effort to get to my next job. With the clips removed I manufactured myself a batch and screwed them up in my van. From this day on, life was so much simpler. A simple slide on and off system was much easier and saved me loads of time over the years. It is my belief that our slide on and off solution is the best and most efficient system on the market today.
